Please don't tell your friends, they wouldn't believe it anyway. It's real. It's good - it's very good. It's relaxed and friendly. You can't get out without a conversation or four. No TV. No pool table. No smoking inside. Glen Miller, big band music, some 60's, or Jazz, it just depends. Special events without large promotions. Customized menu for your anniversary. Wine tastings. Irish wakes. Limited seating monthly dinners. You name it or let them figure it out for you. Service like you'd provide to your friends and family. Lots of fresh items made from scratch. You'd rather have veggies than beans - OK. Want to sit alone in the other room - OK. Don't know which wine to have? try this, or this, or this. OK? Regulars abound in this Hill Country "Cheers" restaurant - (not a bar or beer joint). Owners support local business, talent, and organizations. More class, style, quality, and service than you'll find in similar establishments in neighboring counties. Move it to 1604 and you'd have to wait in a long line to get in.
OK - so I'm sold on the place. Please think I'm crazy and stay in Bexar County. (I'd hate to lose my parking spot). |

This restaurant is one of the best I have tried. I have had steak, fish, pork, most side dishes and snacks. The food is incredible. It is perfectly spiced (especially the garlic mashed potatos and the augratin potatos). The food is warm and the portions are generous. Prices are very reasonable and it is served attractively. My husband and I eat there at least once a week now. It is worth the trip from San Antonio. The ambiance is relaxed and personable. Service is prompt and friendly. The have fun live music and the wine list is excellent. They always have a great special that includes both food and wine. What a great place to go. It is my personal favorite. Being able to shop at the gallery next door is also a plus. The owners are delighful and really make it fun. Love it!!! |
