I grew up in Scranton with this being my absolute favorite restaurant around. Located right on the outskirts of the downtown area, you can't miss it, the Ship's pub, as they call it, looks like a huge ship from the outside, complete with masts and wheelhouse. On the inside is the bar complete with cozy booths and loads of beer memorabilia. Lots of history on the walls, old pictures of Scranton in the coal mining days, and an excellent collection of old beer bottles and cans. They have around 20 taps (including the dining room bar) and a selection of over 200 bottles. Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard, Corsendonk, Spaten, Paulaner, Lindemann's, Stoudt's, Barley Creek, Victory just to name a few taps. For Scranton, this place is beer heaven. No one else around can compete.
The food here is excellent. If your just in the mood for a snack and some beers, they have a top notch appetizer selection, along with a huge menu, mainly seafood, but also something for everyone. If you're in Scranton, don't miss this place. |
