The building dates back to 1835, but it's one of the hippest spots in town, with blues, jazz, and flamenco.

When you can't get in at the snooty Geronimo or want more than the wine bar on Canyon Road, make your way to El Farol for delectable tapas at reasonable prices (equate quality to price & it's a bargain). Last year when our party of 3 ate there, we ordered several tapas & a good bottle of wine. It wasn't cheap, but it was the most enjoyable meal we had in Santa Fe. This year, only I ordered a couple tapas (which everyone wanted to sample & enjoyed). Others ordered chicken enchiladas (tasty but seasoned with too much chili pepper - not too much heat, just too much powder taste). Another had the sesame seared tuna salad which satisfied the hardest to please of our group. The only complaint we had was with the service. Our waiter was more concerned with waiting to be discovered rather than waiting on us. But considering it was again the best meal we had in Santa Fe (I know, there's better restaurants, we just didn't get to them), I thoroughly recommend El Farol for Canyon Road semi-gourmet. |
