Yogi's has come a LONG ways since it opened in the early 90's. As an IU student I was a fixture there. And its always on the "to do list" whenever I return to Bloomington. Very good food, excellent wings with lots of meat on the wings. Nice change versus BW3 where the wings are obviously from anexoric chickens. The Hummus as an appetizer is excellent. But as with many college restaurants, the wait staff is sometimes its weakest link. I was accosted by a waiter there accusing me of dining and dashing on him 6 months prior, which was absurd. After trying to tell him he had the wrong guy, he got even more upset and even made a threat. This was also done in front of a group of friends, and one even a business acquaintence. It was quite embarassing and uncalled for. Another negative is that every chain smoker in Bloomington also goes to Yogi's on a regular basis. |

Yogi's is a restaurant with a split personality. Go there in the afternoons and you will find a quiet little grill with some good dishes at a good price. Go there in the evenings and you will find a raucous student bar. If either environment suits your liking Yogi's is a good choice. Smoking is permitted almost everywhere except for one room in the back. They recommend their barbecue, but I'm a vegetarian so I can't comment on it. The vegetarian options are good - that's a requirement for a restaurant in Bloomington. The taco salad is very large, while the sandwiches are good. Appetizers are excellent, including buffalo chips and jalapeno poppers. The draft beer selection is adequate, including some local microbrews, but they seem to run out of higher quality beers with depressing regularity. With its emphasis on sports, Yogi's is a wonderful place to take in an IU basketball game |
