This place has been my local pub for years. A recent change of ownership has improved a few things - namely service, which, was down-right lackadaisical before. The food has improved in some areas, and changed for the worse in others. For instance they're much more generous with their chips (British/Irish for fries) but the authentic gravy served with them is now pretty poor. Get the Curry sauce instead.
As for the bar, they still pour an excellent Guinness, and the regulars are friendly and if you are too, you're sure to make a few friends. The place fills with NU and Kellogg students on some nights and weekends.
As for the decor, improvements and detractions have been made, like putting in a tin ceiling that looks much classier than the nicotine stained acoustic tiles, but the place is now unbearably loud when the students come in. (The restaurant remains hushed).
The dart boards are new, and there's actually pool cues with tips on them now, but they installed a cursed Golden-Tee golf video thing, something that should never be in a pub - a place made for conversation. I don't mind the newly installed flat-screen TVs in the back, but none of them should have that even-more-cursed trivia game running on them.
Overall good food and great character, I'm just sad to see it slowly turn into any other sports bar. |

The food is good if you are looking for Irish cuisine. The service is good, they are a little slow with the check. The fish is fesh and perfectly cooked and the meat is inredibly juicy. |
